The Upper Towy area is most easily reached by driving north up the Towy Valley from Llandovery and the A40. Access is also possible by narrow country / mountainous lanes from Llanwrtyd Wells.

By the Llandovery railway station on the A40 turn north-east up the A483 towards Llanwrtyd Wells. After 500m, by the fire station, turn left up the road to Rhandirmwyn which is passed in 7 miles. In a further 2 miles a turn off left leads towards Craig Clungwyn, Red Kite Crag and Craig Alltyberau. In another 2 miles Llyn Brianne is reached.
